Palace of Fine ArtsRenaissance-style music
This park was built to celebrate the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition and the city’s recovery from the 1906 earthquake. Its vaulted design was inspired by classical architecture. Following the exposition, many of the buildings were torn down, with the exception of the Palace, deemed “too beautiful to destroy.” Today it’s a popular tourist attraction that can even be hired as a wedding venue, like in the Indian film My Name is Khan. Concerts and events are held in the theatre.
