Golden Gate BridgeSymbol of the city
The first thing that comes to mind when you think about San Francisco is the enormous red steel suspension bridge. Almost three kilometres long and 230 metres high, it was opened in 1937 and connects the city with Sausalito. It can be crossed by car or on public transport, but one of the best experiences is to go over on foot or by bike. First, visit the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center to lean all about the construction.
