Triumphal ArchThe symbol of victory
The original arch was erected to commemorate Russia’s victory over Napoleon in 1812, but was dismantled by Stalin a century later in response to his plans to reorganise the Moscow centre. The new arch, constructed in the 60s, is supported by 12 wrought iron columns, between which sculptures alluding to Victory, Glory and Valour can be seen.
