Moscow MetroLose yourself underground
The Moscow Metro is not just any underground rail system, the stations are virtually palaces. It was built during the Soviet regime and opened in 1935. It is an architectural prodigy decorated with arches, niches, sculptures, murals and chandeliers. Among the stations not to be missed are Revolyutsii Square (the closest to the Kremlin, with more than 70 bronze sculptures of Soviet heroes), Novoslobodskaya (line 5), Kiyevskaya (lines 3, 4 and 5), Komsomolskaya (line 1) and Mayakovskaya (line 2).
