Cathedral of Christ the SaviourRussia’s tallest church
What we see today is a reproduction of the original temple, which was demolished on the orders of Stalin in 1931. This new Orthodox church was consecrated in 2000 after being rebuilt with marble from the Urals and red granite. The golden domes, some of which soar to 105 metres high, are particularly striking. Among the highlights inside are the sculptures and paintings in the main nave and the two adjacent galleries.
