Abramtsevo ColonyCradle of the Slavophile movement
This estate, near the city of Khotkovo, was an important cultural meeting point during the second half of the 19th century, under the auspices of its owner, the essayist and literary critic Sergei Aksakov. Writers, historians and painters gathered here, including Nikolai Gogol, Ivan Turguenev, Mikhail Pogodin and Mikhail Nesterov. As well as the extensive gardens, you can visit the house and museums.
