In 1997, at the bottom of the stairway to this luxurious villa, its then owner, Gianni Versace, was shot and killed. Following his murder, his sister decided to sell the mansion and, as a result, this buildilng is now open to the public (or, more accurately, members of the public who can afford it), as a luxury hotel, restaurant and events space.
