By plane (Las Vegas is served by McCarran International Airport, from here a shuttle bus will take you to The Strip for less than $10); by car, in the purest "road-trip" style or by Greyhound or Megabus coach.

How to dress

During the day, light clothing. Take a lightweight jacket if you don't want to suffer from the air conditioning of the casinos. In the evening, a shirt and smart shoes are essential for men if they want to get into a nightclub.

Tipping

The right thing to do is to leave the equivalent of 15-20% of the total bill as a tip. For hotel staff and taxi drivers, $1 or $2, and you can place a small bet in the name of the casino dealer.

To follow tradition and get married disguised as Elvis, you only need to be over 18 years of age and have a marriage license that has been issued by Clark County Marriage Bureau for $60. To speed up the process, you can do the pre-registration on-line.

Clubs and discos

The price of entry usually starts at $20, depending on the disco and DJ, and for boys tends this to be more expensive. If you don't want to wait in a queue, buy the VIP entrance ($40-50) or get there at about 22:00.

Medical care

Before travelling, take out private insurance that covers medical aid and repatriation. In the United States healthcare is very expensive ... Prevention is better than cure.
