Hoover DamThe guardian of the Colorado River
48 kilometers away from Las Vegas, on the Nevada and Arizona border, pies gigantic cement dam, constructed during the Great Depression. It was designed to prevent the river from flooding, although it also works as a hydroelectric plant. Several guided tours go along the dam, but what is most striking are the views: the enormous structure in the middle of the Black Canyon, and below, the Colorado river, where you can do rafting, or kayaking and get a different perspective of this marvel of engineering.
