What is the best time to travel?

The best months are April, May, September and October, when temperatures range from 10º and 30º C. If you are not travelling for a special occasion, such as New Year's Eve or 4th July, choose mid seasons.

Where should I stay?

The best place is a hotel on the Strip, the street where the main casinos are. Another option is to stay Downtown or in Fremont St., but be warned, what you save on the hotel you may spend on transport.

Is it worth travelling with children?

Vegas is not Disneyland, that's true and the casinos are the heart of this city, but you can find plenty of things to do with kids, like visiting the Mandalay Bay Aquarium, Hershey's Chocolate Museum or the Adventuredome Theme Park.

How much money can I expect to spend?

That depends on your budget. There are hotels and restaurants to suit all budgets and a lot of activities are free, but if you want to enjoy the attractions, nightclubs and casinos, don't expect to spend less than $50/day per person (not including accommodation).

What are the opening hours?

The majority of shops open from 10:00 to 21:00, but shopping centres on the Strip open until 23:00, Sunday to Thursday and until midnight, Friday and Saturday. 24-hour shops sell practically everything.

What time do nightclubs and casinos stay open until?

Closing time depends on the disco and the people there. Even so, you can always find somewhere to go. "After-hours" open at 4am. You can also go to the casinos: they are open 24/7.

Is there a minimum age for entering casinos?

Like the rest of the US, you have to be over 21 to enter discos, drink alcohol and gamble in casinos. Youngsters may be taken through designated areas, if they are accompanied by an adult.

What documentation must I take with me?

In bars, clubs and casinos, they will ask you for your ID even though it's clear that you are over 21. Always carry your passport or identity card/driver's license. If you are a foreigner, they usually accept the last two, although they may sometimes demand your passport.

How can I move around Las Vegas?

The Strip is about 6 kilometres long, so you can move around on foot. Another option is the Monorail ($12/day) or bus (The Deuce, double decker, $8/day). Don't discard the idea of a limo or a balloon…anything is possible here!
