Havana is a superb place for biking and discovering places that are off the beaten track for most tourists. The roadside verges are more than one metre wide and are reserved for cyclists. Bicycles can be parked in special lots in the city costing just 1 CUC. These are usually situated in shopping centres, stations and beaches. Given the scarcity of night lighting, it’s best to stay off the roads at night unless you have proper lights and reflective clothing.
