Merrion SquareGeorgian Dublin
The Georgian houses with their colourful doors often appear on postcards of Dublin, and you’ll get the best view of the scene from Merrion Square. The writer Oscar Wilde used to live behind one of these doors: where he spent his childhood is now home to the American College Dublin. In this square, a peaceful, secluded park invites locals and visitors alike to switch off for a while. Lovingly looked after, it contains sculptures of prominent figures, including Dublin’s most distinguished resident, Wilde himself.
